The Future of AI and Science Begins Here
The Institute for Artificial Intelligence at the Weizmann Institute of Science is the policy-making and executive framework for the development of leading-edge AI technologies and the integration of existing and future AI tools into labs across the Weizmann campus. The Institute is directed by Prof. Shimon Ullman, who is a 2015 Israel Prize laureate and a renowned global authority on computer vision.
Fueling a Dynamic Human-Machine Partnership
The Institute for Artificial Intelligence coordinates and supports AI-based research across campus and beyond, creating an environment of innovation and collaboration that is taking scientific discovery to new heights.
Our efforts are focused on three main initiatives:
-
AI Hub for Scientific Discovery
The AI Hub for Scientific Discovery is an on-campus “computational clubhouse” where students, scientists, and leading AI professionals collaborate on AI-driven research projects, driving AI and basic science forward to new frontiers.
-
AI Challenge Grants
AI Challenge Grants are awarded to Weizmann researchers who aim to use AI to address key questions in five critical areas of science. Grants provide support to leading proposals that demonstrate potential for high-impact scientific discovery.
-
The Center for Core AI Research
The Center for Core AI Research provides a framework where Weizmann’s computer science experts develop cutting-edge AI techniques.
AI Excellence Beyond Campus
By supporting, funding, and facilitating AI-based research, the Institute for Artificial Intelligence aims to accelerate the development of AI models, methods, and techniques in the pursuit of scientific discovery. Our goal is to boost the study of basic science in labs and research centers throughout the Weizmann Institute and beyond to the wider scientific community, ultimately benefiting humanity, our world, and our future.
